About us
WHO CC SHVP is one of eight WHO Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Collaborating Centres worldwide and is part if the Infectious Diseases Center for trAnslational Research. This Centre is linked with the Centro Multidisciplinare per le Infezioni Sessualmente TRAsmesse (MISTRA) a multidisciplinary centre for STIs screening and treatment. The Centre works also with the UNDP/UNFPA/UNICEF/WHO/World Bank Special Programme of Research, Development and Research Training in Human Reproduction (HRP) on different projects.
The key objectives of the Centre are to:

At the request of WHO provide technical support in research and evaluation of Point-Of-Care-Testing strategies on HIV/STIs, focusing on self-testing, self-collection, and their use in non-clinical settings in different Countries.

Support WHO in activities for evidence production on the sexual and reproductive health of key/vulnerable populations with a special focus on behavioural, social and health systems research.

At the request of WHO provide support in activities related to sexual/reproductive health, with special focus on vulnerable populations and gender disparities
